A Ridiculously Large Post Of Almost All Of Bob Dylan's Non-LP Tracks (1962-2005)206 Songs, 15-1/2 Hours Of Rare Bob
(No Bootlegs) New Additions At Bottom
Scattered Bob Dylan tracks from singles, import albums, various artist LPs, promos, radio concerts, soundtracks, recalled releases... you name it (up to around 2005). There are still a few missing (for you obsessive types - #'s 711, 713, 727, 751, 801, 803-804, 846-851, 854-863, & 871 - the list is in Comments), but you'll no doubt find this nearly complete gathering satisfying - grouped and organized by release date. No bootlegs are included, it's all officially released stuff (or promos) excepting Bob's US albums, the Bootleg Series, Traveling Wilburys and the like (don't forget to grab Disc 3 from 2008's Tell Tale Signs here and another 96 songs from Bob's website here). Of course, it cant be as simple as that... there are dupes, some tracks have been re-issued in strange ways (like DVD bonuses), some sessions are split by release dates into different sections, but you'll get the gist. The highlights are endless; the 2005 dub version of "I And I," a simply gorgeous 1963 live take of "Boots Of Spanish Leather," the "mistaken" release of "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window," and the outstanding alternate version of "Everything is Broken," which Dylan delivers like he's reading a telegram. "Rocks And Gravel" (a precursor to "It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry"), is a full band performance from the recalled 1963 acoustic Freewheelin' promo LP, illustrating how early Bob had been messin' with "that wild mercury sound." Once again... thank you. If you collect requests, might I suggest the two Cafe Jacques records, Round the Back and International? I've vinyl copies of both but they're in storage far far away; import CDs seem available but rare and quite expensive. I've searched for them online over the past months and can't find them--which I find odd, as at least Round the Back features Phil Collins on percussion and vinyl copies are numerous at the various auction sites. I'm sure you're familiar with the band, but their bountiful hooks and Steely Dan vibe render them ripe for rediscovery. Off the soapbox, you run an invaluable site and thank you again.

Thanks for the note. But you're pointing out the madness of doing something like this. We used a fanatic's list as a guide, since we're not certified Bobnuts. Love him, but we can't retain all this info. The minute you have a list, it's immediately outdated by future releases.
There's a "Mixed Up Confusion (Alternate)" listed under MISC ALBUM 1976-1990. That was released on the import Masterpieces CD. Is it the same? I just don't know. As for "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues"... was it possibly released on one of the Bootleg Series CDs? If so, it never made the list. And we're just not knowledgable enough to add to, or subtract from, it.
There are just too many variations for us to be sure about anything. All of this is really just to get everybody the bulk of what's out there. You're on your own after that. Though... we will take missing files and post them as people offer them up. Do you have the two you mentioned?

Let me check this out and get back. Yes Mixed Up Confusion is on both Masterpieces and Biograph, so apologies for that. However I'll check the versions. JLTTB (live in Liverpool) has definitely never appeared anywhere else but the UK IWY 45 B-side. I have this track but the vinyl is rough.

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues (Liverpool, '66, IWY b-side) IS included in this post (Vol. 2.) It was on Masterpieces (an - I think - Australasian-only triple-LP, 1978). It's the same version; I checked against my Masterpieces CD). See here for details.
Mixed-up Confusion is different between Biograph and Masterpieces. Masterpieces version is in mono, and a semi-tone down on the Biograph version. In truth, to my ears the Masterpieces pitch is correct, and the Biograph version is pitched up a semitone (as was the fashion at the time.) I don't know of the Dutch single, so can't say whether either of these is it.

My oh my. What can someone asy about this. Nothing other than is simply breathtaking, amazing and whatever other word you might find to call it. A zillion thank you are not quite enough I must say.
Like many, I check your blog from time to time, and today..guess what? I found this amazing compilation of Bob tracks. I've always wanted to do something similar with Beach Boys' and Brian Wilson tracks, (including all the different mixes commercially available on different compilations etc)...but have never had the time. Still, I may tackle it someday.
I love the Nilsson stuff you've posted as well. You've help me find some Nilsson stuff I didn't know even existed. You may know my name from the "Special Thanks" section of Rob Burt's Nilsson Compilation called "Lullaby In Ragtime", compiled and released before Harry's then Rob's unfortunate passing. I had contacted Rob through a mutual friend in the UK, to suggest a few things for him to include, many years ago. He was amazed when I mentioned "How about including the rare B-side "Sister Marie"??" After the compilation came out, and a few copies sent to me, I sent a copy to Harry through a contact at Bug Music (His publishing company, during his later years), with the hope that Harry would drop me a note of "Thanks". He never did, but his lawyer did contact me after his passing to say the family was "thankful" for my love of Harry and his music. The family had apparantly found the CD and my letter in Harry's things.
Anyway--your blog is definitely one of the best ever, and this Dylan collection has to be one of the coolest things available on any Blog. I think I'm going to go insane with all of this music.
It just never ends.

As a 40-year collector of Dylan (I'm proud to own an original vinyl GREAT WHITE WONDER bootleg, the daddy of them all, I believe), I have to say this is by far the neatest piece of work I've discovered on ol' Bob on the internet ever! Willard, you deserve a place in some hall of fame for making this available. Huzzah!
